Activity 15: Animal bingo

Who it is best for: Children, but the activity can be adapted for all ages.

Explanation and objectives:

This activity works as a practice of listening and also reviewing vocabulary related to endemic animals.

Materials:

  • Animal cards (from yucatan (white-tailed deer, yucatan wren, jaguar, etc.)
  • Sheets with random animals (3x3 or 4x4).


How to do the activity:

  • Teacher gives each student a sheet.
  • When everyone has their sheets, the teacher gives them instructions: "I'm going to say the name of the animal and if you have it put a token with the picture of it, if you fill a vertical or horizontal line you say Bingo".
  • Teacher pulls out a card and says the name. Repeat every time until a student win.
  • When a student win let him/her be the one who says the cards with the animal.
  • Repeat as many times as you consider.
